Critical Thinking
a. Pun says, “We do not have a culture of innovation that encourages young people to be innovative and creative”. Do you agree with him? Explain.
Yes, I fully agree with Mahabir Pun’s statement that Nepal does not have a culture of innovation that encourages young people to be creative. Innovation means introducing something new, and it is one of the main sources of economic growth. Developed countries are successful because they give priority to research, new ideas, and innovative manpower. They invest huge amounts of money in research and technology, which has placed them at the top.
In Nepal, however, innovation is rarely valued. Our education system focuses only on reading, memorising, and writing exams. Teachers, students, and even policymakers do not give importance to research or creative thinking. Academic grades are given more value than original ideas. This traditional approach has continued from the past without real change.
The government also does not show interest in promoting innovation. It fails to create opportunities for young people to try new things. As a result, many students go abroad each year to seek better education and research opportunities. Developed countries invest in modern research-based education, but in Nepal, such opportunities are almost absent. Because of this, many talented youths do not wish to stay in Nepal and work here.
I think it is the responsibility of the government to create a sound environment and support system to keep the most talented and innovative people in Nepal and utilise them for the economic development of the country.

To become an entrepreneur, an individual needs several essential qualities. First, creativity and innovation are important to generate new ideas and offer unique solutions. An entrepreneur must also have risk-taking ability, as starting a business often involves uncertainty and challenges. Self-confidence and determination help them to believe in their vision and continue despite obstacles. Effective leadership and decision-making skills are essential for guiding a team and making informed choices. Hard work, discipline, and patience play a major role in achieving long-term goals. Moreover, strong communication and networking skills help in building relationships with customers, investors, and partners.
An entrepreneur should also be flexible and adaptable, able to adjust to changes in the market. Finally, financial knowledge and problem-solving ability are required to manage resources and overcome difficulties. Altogether, these qualities enable an entrepreneur to turn ideas into successful ventures.
