C.          Answer the following questions

a.      Why did the old man go to the forest with an axe?

The old man went to the forest with an axe to cut the lime tree.

b.     What did the lime tree tell the old man when he was about to cut it down?

The lime tree told him not to cut him when he was about to cut it down as he promised to do a good turn for him.

c.      List the things the old people received from the lime tree.

The things the old people received from the lime tree were a horse and a cart, a new hut, livestock, fowls, money, and gold coins.

d.     Do you like the old woman? Why?

No, I do not like the old woman because she was very greedy.

e.      What lesson did you learn from this story?

The lesson we learn from this story is not to be a greedy man.

D.         What would you do if you were the old woman? Discuss. 

If I were the old woman, I would be satisfied with whatever I had in my life because greediness destroys human life. I would only ask for the basic things required for our life If I had to ask for them.

Pronunciation

Make the students know that a single vowel sound forms a single syllable. Pronounce the words based on the syllables they have. Ask the students to follow while pronouncing the words and show the number of syllables in each word.
