Preposition is a word such as in, on, at or a group of words like out of, up of, except for. It describes a relationship between two nouns of a sentence. A prepositional phrase is a group of words initiated with a preposition such as at school, on the ground, or the table. Some verbs take certain prepositions after them such as look for, interest in, look up, wipe out, fell off, and agree with. Some adjectives take specific prepositions after them like different from, fed up, tired of, afraid of, capable of, and similar to. Verb-prepositions may differ based on a situation like:
a. Agree to – (proposal) Eg: She agrees to serve in a new office.
b. Agree with – (person) Eg: She agrees with him to visit fields.
c. Agree on – (price) Eg: She agrees on the price of goods.
d. Agree in – (principle) Eg: She agrees in Marshal’s Theory.
e. Agree about – (object) Eg: She agrees about everything.
Uses of Prepositions

a. I will go on Monday. (Name of days) c. I take a walk in the morning. ( parts of the day)
b. The class starts at 10:00 am. ( fixed time)
Prepositions also show extended time using since, for, from and to, from and until, within such as (https://youtu.be/FHNjE1wzfac )
a. I have been working since morning. (Point of time)
b. She is going to Kathmandu for three months. (period)
c. The training took place from January to March. (extended time)
d. We celebrate Dashain in October. ( name of month)
Prepositions also indicate a place using in, inside, on, at, over, and above such as:
a. I see a worker in the cabin. (location)
b. The Manager stayed inside his office. (physically enclosed)
c. The robber jumped into the office. ( motion)
d. There are some documents on the table.
e. The supervisor met her in the corridor.
f. The fan is above her head in the office. ( not vertically up)
g. The fan is over her head in the office. ( vertically up)
h. She is sitting below the fan in the office. (not vertically down)
i. She is sitting under the fan in the office. (vertically down)
j. The vehicle passes through the forest. (partially seen)
k. She was going along the road.
Prepositions introduce objects of verbs such as bark, glance, laugh, look, rejoice, and smile in sentences like:
a. The dog barked at her. c. She looked at the documents.
b. He rejoiced at his successful results.
Prepositions show other meanings such as of, for, in or about:
a. My Manager approved of my plan. d. The report consists of 200 pages.
b. He is thinking about investing money in gold. e. She is looking for her purse.
c. She is interested in typing letters.
