Electronic messages can be written, oral and even nonverbal. They all share many of the same characteristics. The audience, especially those with visual or auditory impairment, has the option to choose their preferred medium in electronic communication messages. They are immediate in delivery, and they help save our valuable time. Accessing information is quick and easy because many electronic media are search-enabled. They help to save money, time and space barriers as we can work from home or anywhere. Examples of electronic messages that are commonly used in business communication are given below:
Emails
Emails have become the most common form of communication inside and outside an organisation. It also saves time and money, making our information safe and secret. It can carry our information in a very short time to our customers.
Telephone Calls
The telephone call is the very oldest way of communication, but it is still used regularly in our business. The telephone is effective for urgent, instant messages. With the advent of the mobile phone, communication has become extremely convenient. Business people remain in touch anytime and anywhere with the help of it.
Fax Messages
A facsimile (copy) message is a document sent via a device that transmits an exact copy of a document via a telephone line. The fax machine scans the document as it goes through, and an exact copy is transmitted immediately to the fax machine on the other end of the line. The email has replaced much of the work of faxing in the present day.
Online Chats
An online chat is a type of real-time communication over the internet among the members of a group. Many small businesses find online chat useful in communicating with their clients, partners and suppliers. Chats can help replace telephone lines and reduce long-distance calls.
Internet Forums
The internet is an online discussion site (Zoom, Teams, Google Meet) where people can interact with others in the form of posted messages. It offers a common space to ask and answer questions. It can be useful for businesses to discuss products or services and get feedback from clients and potential clients. Social media posts: Social media, such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube, provide an effective way to communicate business information. They help communicators to collaborate by allowing them to share information, respond to it and revise it. The approach is conversational, so be open and ready to interact with another party. Some social media posts are live-streamed that are concise, specific and informative.
Websites
A website is the location of a company or an individual on the internet. Many companies already have websites that are the most important tools to connect with customers. A website can be accessed by anyone from anywhere in the world. It is a powerful advertising tool that exposes all the information, vision, and mission of the company attractively. It also helps to sell the products, saving money that is spent on advertising.
Blogs
A blog is an online journal that can be easier to customise and update than a website. We can post interesting and important information about our business on blogs. They have become very popular in recent years for several reasons, mainly because of deliver interesting and useful information. An individual blogger offers a personal and often intimate voice. Blogs are highly interactive, so audience members can join in the conversation and post their comments.
Microblogs
A microblog is a miniature form of a blog in which messages are restricted to a couple of hundred characters (letters, not words). The best example of a microblog is Twitter, which restricts messages to 140 characters. Microblogs are useful for writing short summaries and provide links to other content online.
Podcasts and Vodcasts
These are audio (podcasts) or video (vodcasts) posts online distributed via RSS (Really Simple Syndication) subscriptions. Podcasts can be downloaded, and the audience can listen to them even while doing something else. These channels are effective in giving consumers previews of products, services and other activities. Depending on needs, these could be bulletins, interactions, or interviews.
Video Conferences
Video conferences offer an advantage over traditional face-to-face conferences by cutting travel costs and enhancing collaboration.
Webinars
A webinar is a seminar, only that it takes place over the internet. It serves as a platform for online participation and discussion. Webinars are useful for business contacts, promoting a product or service, and maintaining close communication with customers.
Skype
Skype is effective in keeping in touch with customers, partners or colleagues. It can be used for teleconferences or video conferences. It helps to keep costs at a minimum.
