 A.         Make sentences from the table below using ‘used to / didn’t use to’ as shown in the example.

Example: She used to travel a lot but now she rarely leaves her town.

Ten Years Ago	Now
a.      She travelled a lot.	i.      She drinks coffee.
b.     She was lazy.	ii.    She works hard.
c.      She didn’t like junk food.	iii. She has limited friends.
d.     She’d got a pet.	iv.  She is a professor.
e.      She was a school teacher.	v.    She does not attend parties.
f.       She had got many friends.	vi.  Her pet died last year.
g.     She did not read many books.	vii.     She reads a lot of books.
h.     She did not take coffee.	viii.  She eats momo and noodles these days.
i.       She went to parties a lot.	ix.        She rarely leaves her town.

Answer:

a.      She used to be lazy but now she works hard.

b.     She did not use to like junk food but now she eats momo and noodles.

c.      She used to have got a pet but now it died last year.

d.     She used to be a school teacher but now she is a professor.

e.      She used to have got many friends but now she has limited friends.

f.       She did not use to read many books but now she read a lot of books.

g.     She did not use to take coffee but now she drinks it.

h.     She used to go to parties a lot but now she does not attend parties.

B.          Study the following sentences and find the differences between them.

(The only difference between them is: ‘used to’ talks permanent past habit but ‘would’ does not)

a.      My grandfather used to smoke but he doesn’t smoke now.

b.     I would always talk to my grandfather whenever I had a problem.

Now, complete the sentences with used to or would.
