A.   Study the chart below and answer the following questions.

a.      What kind of chart is this?

It is a bar chart.

b.     What data does it represent?

It represents average daily attendance.

B.    The following verbs are used to describe different trends or patterns of data. Put them under the appropriate headings.

Upward Trend

Downward Trend

Stable Trend

Climb, go up grow increase, jump, rise rocket

drop, plummet, decline go down, decrease, fall plunge

Steady, maintain remain constant

C.    Interpret the bar chart above using appropriate verbs. Make comparisons where applicable. You may use the expressions given below.

The chart illustrates the average daily attendance of students by month for September, October, November, and December.

According to the chart, attendance in September was high, with an average of 25 students per day. This increased slightly in October when the average daily attendance reached its peak at around 27 students. However, in November, there was a decline, with the average daily attendance dropping to approximately 23 students. This downward trend continued into December, where the average daily attendance further decreased to about 17 students. While September and October showed relatively high and stable attendance figures, November and December saw a noticeable reduction in the number of students attending daily. Likewise, the comparison between the peak in October and the low in December indicates a significant decline in student attendance over the four months.

Overall, the chart shows that student attendance was highest in October and experienced a steady decline towards December.
