a.      "Every match is a new opportunity. Put its failure behind you and start over again." Does this apply to the Italian football team when we analyze their performance from their failure to qualify for the World Cup to their victory in the European Championship in these four years?

Getting victory while playing the match depends upon the team sprit because the success in the match is invited with team work. Every match provides ample opportunity for every aspiring player to sharpen their playing skill. Similarly, every new match offers a new opportunity to every player because they can be a star and be invited to a new club for a professional match. Every new player gets an opportunity to expose and disclose his skill of playing football in the observation of millions of spectators and football managers who must be from around the globe.

Moreover, when a new match is played, a team might have lost it in the first attempt. But, they are supposed to get victory on the second attempt if they continue their effort and improvise their game. Additionally, every failure attempt knocks at the door of the success so there is a ray of hope. The statement given in the above question seems to be rightly quoted in the context of the Italian team. Because it was less than four years ago that Italy plunged to the lowest moment of its soccer history by failing to qualify for the World Cup for the first time in six decades. Now, they are the best team in Europe and on a national-record 34-match unbeaten run under Roberto Mancini, their suave(polite) coach who has won an international trophy in his first attempt to add to the country’s other European title in 1968 and its four World Cups.

b.     When a team plays on home ground, it gets huge support from the audience in the stadium. Does this support them to win the match or the players may feel pressure to win and thus lose? What do you think?

I think a team that plays in the home ground gets huge support and confidence from their fan follower but away teams get huge disadvantages that are based on their region, climate, and fan followers. Many teams have won the match when they play on the home ground. It is estimated that more than 100 teams have won the match that is played on the home ground.

In team sports, the term home ground; also called home advantages describes the benefit i.e. the home team is believed to gain over the visiting team. This benefit has been attributed to the psychological effect supporting fans have on the competitors or the referees; the players get opportunities to play near home in a familiar environment. On the other hand, the disadvantages to the away team have to suffer from changing climate, rigors of travel, and specific rules that favor the home team directly or indirectly. Therefore, besides these advantages, the players get more pressure of winning the game when they play on the home ground.
