By Saskriti Lingden

KATHMANDU, Oct 8: This last month has proved to be a boon to domestic dealers of mobile phones as mobile sets were among the most purchased items. Along with the increasing demand for the latest mobile sets and different schemes thrown by dealers targeting the festive season, traders said that the mobile phone business more than doubled in the last month.

Among other dealers in the market, the authorized dealer of Samsung mobile phones for Nepal -- International Marketing Service (IMS) - sold different models of its mobile phones worth Rs 700 million in the last month.

"An average monthly sales of Samsung mobiles stands at around Rs 300 million, while we recorded sales worth Rs 700 million in the last one month alone," Ram Shrestha, sales head of IMS told Republica, adding "The overwhelming sales this month is the result of the increasing craze for Samsung mobile phones in Nepal and lucrative offer we announced this Dashain."

Samsung had run a cash-back offer this Dashain under which buyers of Samsung mobile phones would be refunded up to Rs 16,000 on purchase of its different models.

Shrestha also informed that Galaxy Core II, Grand 2, Galaxy Advance and Grand Neo were the highest-selling models in recent weeks.

Similar is the case at Virgin Mobile, a multi-brand mobile showroom in New Road. Vivek Sharma, managing director of the showroom, said that their business in the last month was recorded at Rs 27 million. The showroom's monthly business at normal times hovers around Rs 15 million.

"This is the highest monthly sale we recorded during any Dashain over the last five years," Sharma told Republica, adding "The demand for Indian brands this festive season increased largely, pushing the sales up."

·        Around 30,000 mobile sets sold per day during Dashain

·        Rs 700 million worth of Samsung mobiles; 5,000 Sony sets sold in a month

The showroom offers mobile sets of different brands including Samsung, Sony, HTC, Karbonn and Colors among others.

Similar is the case with Nepa Hima Trade Link, the authorized distributor of handsets of the Sony brand in Nepal. According to Binil Bajracharya, general manager of the company, it sold almost 5,000 mobile phones of Sony in the last month against monthly average sales of 1,500.

Feature Story Structure

Feature stories focus on ONE relevant individual, group or institution for a hook. The structure of feature stories can be: Beginning, Body and Ending (page 263)

Beginning: The starting part of this story can have a proper scene, dialogue or anecdote. The theme is connected from the first paragraph to the second and third. The theme paragraph relates to the larger problem. This part should guide the readers.

Body: In this part, the writer should include sufficient examples to support the main points of the writing. The anecdote or scenes, or dialogues are included as a technique in the body part. This part is structured in chronological order and it should explain the why and how questions. It should explain the scope of the topic.

Ending: This part is connected with the starting part and related to the main storyline of the writing. This ending part contains a quote, scene or any anecdote for a better wrap-up.

The opening paragraph of a feature may start with an anecdote, a quote, an observation or a scene. It has to spark the interest of the reader. These articles combine both facts and personal reflections. The body part usually expands on the opening, adding evidence and details in support of the central themes of the article. And an effective ending is to tie back to the opening.
