a. How did the Varma couple make sacrifices for their son’s higher education?
The Varma had put in forty years of hard labour at a kerosene depot, while their wife worked tirelessly to keep the home running smoothly. The Varma couple worked long and hard throughout their lives to pay for their son's higher education. They had hoped for the best for their son's schooling their whole lives. Mr Varma didn't have the opportunity to further his education since he was the son of a vegetable seller. However, he aspired to provide his son Rakesh with a good education. After a while, he was able to achieve his objective and make his dream come true. Mr Varma and his wife were rewarded for their perseverance. Varma has never been inside a school in his life. Rakesh, his eldest son, was the first in the family to go to college. Thus, the sacrifice that Mr and Mrs Varma have put to educate their son Rakesh was extraordinary.
b. Mr Varma suffers from diseases one after another after his wife’s death. Would he have enjoyed better health if she had not died before him? Give reasons.
I think that Mr Varma's condition would not have been that miserable if Mrs Verma was alive. Rakesh was having his own happy life. Therefore, there was nobody to take care of his father. After his wife's death, he was loneliest both mentally and physically. After the loss of his wife, his body began to respond oddly. He seemed to be quite content with himself and his state of mind. Varma was afflicted with a strange disease that made him sick often. Rakesh had no clue what was causing his father's recurrent sickness. While his wife was still alive, Varma did an excellent job. This caused him great sadness. He was in a state of disarray. Mr His wife had died, and he was left all by himself then he began acting strangely. He wasn't allowed to consume his favourite meals because of the risks to his health. He made up his mind that he was despised and disregarded. Finally, he decided that dying was a better option than continuing to take medications. After that, he behaved in a much worse manner. To be honest, he'd be in better shape now if his wife hadn't passed away.
c. Dr Rakesh is divided between a doctor and a son. As a son, he loves his father and worries about his weakening health but as a doctor, he is strict about his father’s diet and medicine. In your view, what else could Rakesh have done to make his father’s final years more comfortable?
Despite Rakesh's Job and responsibilities, he devoted himself to taking care of his father during his final years. But, I think, He could have made him more at ease by doing something more. Instead of yelling at his father, he could have shown him more respect. Instead of being severe, he might have attempted to make his father happy all the time. Instead of worrying about his father's health, he could have made an effort to comprehend his emotions. He had the opportunity to help his father by offering emotional support.
d. What does the story say about the relationship between grandfather and grandchildren?
Grandparents and grandchildren often have close connections in households. In this story, this relationship is shown as more cooperative because Mr Varma tries to get what he wants by using his young grandson. He begins bribing his grandson to bring him jalebis in exchange for money. However, these sorts of activities are not good deeds, a wonderful connection between a grandpa and his grandkids has been shown in this story. Grandparents should be excellent role models for their grandkids. Varma lives with his grandkids, who are his closest companions. Because of Rakesh's actions, he's depressed. His grandkids are his closest companions, with whom he plays and spends time while he is alone.
e. Do you call Rakesh a devoted son? Give reasons.
Yes, I call Rakesh a devoted son. I have the following reasons to claim my opinion:
· After completing his studies in the US, he rejects the golden job opportunities there and returns to his homeland to continue his job along with continuing to serve and take care of his parents.
· Instead of marrying, an educated woman, he marries an illiterate rural woman, so that she could give time to Rakesh's parents.
· Till the last breath of his mother, Rakesh was the one who held her hands and did everything he could do to save his mother.
· Being a doctor and owning a family, Rakesh had a very tight schedule, still, he manages to take care of his father.
· When his father fell ill, he banned oily foods from him, because they were not healthy for him, spent most of his time with his father, brought high-quality and effective tonics and medicines, behaved humbly and paid respect every time, and did his best efforts possible to give him longer span.
Thus, as the line suggests, Rakesh is undoubtedly a devoted son.

Children have their roots in their parents. Mothers and fathers have a crucial part in determining the bright future of their children's generation. They are the primary individuals who are acknowledged for their long-term sacrifices and hard work for their children. They're continually hopeful about the future and well-being of their children. Parents have excessively high expectations for their children. We find parents in Nepali society to be quite attentive in molding their children's bright futures and to be very ambitious in this regard. They devote their whole lives to serving their children, and they do it with emotions of love and compassion. They place a high value on their children's general activities and pursue interests in a wide range of elements that will form their children's bright future. Parents have ambitions towards their offspring or children and it is very obvious. They always struggle to instill excellent manners and cultural and religious awareness in them. They want to be loved, cared for, and supported in their old age by their offspring. They may be seen granting the rights demanded by their kids. They believe that providing their children with an excellent education is the greatest approach to ensure that their children have a bright future. The parents have high standards for their children. They're interested in how their children are doing in all aspects of their life. In Nepali culture, parents are constantly concerned about fulfilling their children's expectations. Most Nepali parents prioritize a good education for their children. They are overjoyed to discover their children's accomplishments. Parents put a hard effort into their children's better life. So, Families in Nepal have high expectations for their children's etiquette, and it shows in their behaviour.
b. Medicines replace our diets in old age. What can be done to make old ageless dependent on medicine?
These days, people of all ages rely on many kinds of medical assistance. The term "old age" describes the period after one's peak working years. Old folks suffer greatly due to a variety of health issues during this time. The body weakens and produces aches in life as a result of the use of different medications. It is the last phase of human existence. This is the age when people are most vulnerable to sickness and frailty. Food is replaced with medicines as people age, and their bodies begin to respond differently.
To reduce medication at old ages, we as take carers, can eliminate the less important medicines by asking the following questions ourselves:
· Is it necessary to take this medication?
· What is the potential benefit of this drug against the potential risk or damages?
· Could we live without this medication, or would a lesser dosage suffice?
Furthermore, some suggestions for reducing our reliance on pharmaceuticals as we age should be implemented. To begin with, attempting to live a more sanitary lifestyle, staying away from bad meals, and drinking clean water with good judgment is a must, preventing mental stress is an important part of staying healthy, sufficient intake of nutritious foods, focusing on regular physical activity.

Care of Elderly Citizens
Many elderly people have spent their whole lives working hard and raising children, only to be abandoned by their own families and placed in nursing homes or other facilities for the elderly. There, they are cared about by licensed nurses, sometimes at the taxpayer's cost. There is some debate about whether or not we should give our elders the respect and care they deserve in light of this circumstance.
Critics of the system argue that it is the family's responsibility to care for the elderly when they are no longer able to work. There is also evidence to suggest that younger individuals benefit from the knowledge and experience of elders who live nearby. They point out that elderly residents in retirement homes sometimes feel unneeded and undesired since their family members seldom visit.
Supporting elderly people with little or no money is not only costly, but the fact that elderly people are often sick and need extensive care may be too much for their busy offspring. Those in favour of the system, on the other hand, argue that retired parents are a financial burden on their children.
But, as humans, we should know that Ageing is a stage that every person reaches some point and places high expectations on the people who come after them. Because of their lengthy service to the country, senior people have received excellent treatment. But this is not enough, they aspire to love and support from their family members and offspring as well. Everyone has a responsibility to the elderly. The responsibility of caring for the elderly should be prioritized. Elderly people need to be respected, cared for, and cherished.
We must consider the significance of elderly people inside the family while making decisions. We should do all we can to meet the needs and expectations of our elders. They have a better outlook on life. We must have a good attitude toward them at all times. Humanity is a notion we must live by as individuals. We should make an effort to keep their faces bright and cheery at all times. It's a wonderful job in and of itself to dedicate our lives to their upkeep. We must not overlook the contributions that the elderly have made in moulding our lives throughout the years. Nothing is more important than humanity, and we need to keep this in mind.
