a.      A CV may not represent a person’s skills and abilities accurately because one’s confidence cannot be conveyed in a CV. What do you think employers should do to find the best people for the job?

The CV may not represent a person’s skills and abilities accurately because one’s confidence cannot be expressed in a CV. Employers should communicate with the candidates effectively. Oral and written communication is a key skill needed in almost every job. They should actively look for this skill in potential employees. Employers should ask behavior-based interview questions. Those are often a good way to determine if a candidate has what it takes to make a real impact on the business or if the candidate is only capable of playing a supporting role. Depending on the nature of the job, employers could ask candidates for work samples. It helps employers to know the real capacity of the candidates.

Some qualities to look for in candidates include authenticity, confidence, and honesty. Those qualities can help separate the good from the great hires.

b.     If employers provide job opportunities by assessing one’s CV, how can fresh graduates compete with experienced competitors?

For fresh graduates, it’s not easy to compete with experienced candidates for the jobs. Their goal is to show that they’re a great fit for the job, not that they’re better than everybody else. Beyond years of work experience, there’s a lot one can do to make himself or herself a more attractive job candidate. Someone else might have more years of experience or work at various companies, but that doesn’t mean they are right for the job. There are so many other factors including chemistry, rightness of fit, type of experience, leadership qualities, enthusiasm, conscientiousness, communication skills, and reliability, that help inexperienced candidates. If possible, fresh graduates should engage in volunteer work.
